Originally a Monster of the Week "Monsterous" playbook, they were born and raise in Pompeii under the Roman Empire before seemingly perishing in the explosion and returning to life as a "Phoenecian", a sort of pheonix-person who ages more slowly and cannot die unless under particualr circumstances. Originally, they travel around for a little bit, before settling in small-town America, trying to keep a low profile while also doing their best to keep the mortal and monsterous worlds seperate.
A few piccrews of them I enjoy, along with some art by my good friend Petra:
A few physcial details on them:
Their only real physical connection to their first life is a leaden bulla amulet they recieved from their parents, and which is kept safely locked away in their small cabin. They have a sensitivity to lead and so had to ignore large parts of society for the 19th and 20th centuries with leaden pipes, paint, and gasoline. This has also led to them only commuting by bike, drinking well water, and having largely plain livings, among other things.
(Dead) Family members:
Other items of note Cass has include a large collection of books, tomes, and papers collected throughtout the years, mundane and magical, a 9mm handgun that is well kept, but largely unused, and a small cottage, obtained with some forged documents from decades ago.
Cass is, technically, a shapeshifter, and can change into a more harpy-like bird form at will. They don't age or sicken and are generally more resisliant, and can fly. When in their Pheonecian form, they have a superior sense of touch being able to feel the residue of magic and recent past happenings. They also can produce magical flames and heat as an attack that penetrates armor.
